P1 Double Page Magazine Spread/ unit 13 and 14 analysis

For this unit of the project we look at both double page magazines and short films which is social documentaries and then make ideas to make our own final double page spread magazine and social documentaries both to do with who our heroes are. The type of style both the magazine and film will be in is in a interview style, asking our heroes questions and getting answers with general views in the filming and questions and answers being put into the double page spread magazine.

For this type of magazine the content that it has is that it has simple colours and a simple white background for the writing. Some other content features that this magazine shows is questions that people have asked James Vince and his responses. This content comes around as an interview between the person asking the questions and James Vince. Another content that this magazine has is that the questions asked to James Vince is in a peach colour so it appeals more to the audience and so that it will catch their eyes better.

There is a lot on content on both magazines. Some content features is with the orange text. The meaning of this is to show what questions was asked in the interview. Another meaning is the quote which is another content. The meaning behind this is to show what was said in the interview like a key quote.

The frequency that this magazine has would roughly be weekly because of the time the magazine would be made and released to the public for sale but roughly it would be weekly because there would be roughly a new magazine/article every week. It would roughly take just under a week to do all the processes ready for the magazine to be published to the public.

The target audience that this certian magazine has is people who like sports in general and has more of a target to people who like cricket as a sport and for people who look up to cricket stars such as James Vince. The age range would roughly be from 55 year olds and above roughly that like this sport and watching the sport and all these cricket stars. I can tell this because I have done some secondary research on a government website called yougov.

The meaning that this magazine page has is to inform the audience who this person is and what he does for a living. It also has a meaning to inform and entertain people who like sports in general and who like cricket as a sport and people who look up to cricket stars as a inspiration. Another meaning that this magazine page has is to show what it is like interviewing a cricketer.

This genre that the magazine has is a sport genre. The reason for this is because the topic is based around cricket which is a type of sport so it links the magazine page to be based on a sport genre. Another reason why it is a sport genre is because it shows a picture of a cricketer which links in to it being a sport which shows the page being a sport genre.

The frequency that this magazine in general and this magazine page would be roughly made in weeks. This would roughly be a new magazine made every week. Roughly in shops there is new magazines each week and this could be made for a new magazine each week so the frequency of the magazine would be weekly.

The types of production processes that this magazine would of been through is processes such as designing the page its self, taking note of what the cricketer said and put in quotes into the page, printing off the final page idea and then putting it into the magazine. The time that would roughly be taken to do all the processes would probably take just under a week to get a fully working page that is good enough to be put in a magazine and published to the public.

In my opinion this magazine is more dull but easier to read than the other magazine page. This is because it has a white background on the text so that is easier to read. This is also more dull because unlike the other magazine the background of the batsman isn't on both pages.

The purpose of both of these magazines is to inform people who buy the magazine to tell them what a cricketers life is like both inside playing cricket and outside of playing cricket. For this particular magazine the purpose is to inform people what responses James Vince has to questions such as "Did you enjoy the world cup?" and how he would respond to these questions.

For this magazine the form and style of this magazine is more duller and based for adults. The form that the magazine has is a simple text page with a picture next to it. On the left side of the page there is a simple text layout that people can read. On the right side of the magazine its a simple picture which shows clearly what sport it is and who it is so in general this magazine has a simple form and a simple style.

This type of magazine has a certian type of genre. The genre that this magazine has is a sport genre. The reason for this is because it is based on cricketers and cricket itself. It focuses on cricket and cricket stars and cricket is a sport so it leads to this certain page in the magazine to be a sport genre.

For the processes involved in the production of this magazine would be to come up with the double page design of the magazine page, asking the questions to James Vince, putting the questions asked and responses from James Vince onto the magazine page and the picture of James vince to show the public who he is. This magazine has a lot of processes involved in the production that is important to produce a good magazine page.

For this magazine page I think it is more interesting but is harder to read the text. The reason for this is because the writing has the background image in it and is harder to read. It is more interesting because the background of the batsman covers both pages.

The purpose that this magazine has is to inform people who Owais Shah is and about cricket and to show people how he responds to questions in a interview and it shows what a cricketers life is like.

The type of form and style that this magazine page has is that it is colourful all over the page and it has bold titles such as "TALENT UNFULFILLED" in a bright yellow to stand out. The form that this magazine has is that on the left side it shows the questions and responses and the writing but on the right side it shows a well focused picture of Owais Shah himself which stands out well.

The content that this magazine has is that it has questions asked to Owais Shah on the left hand side of the page. Some other content features that this magazine page has is that there are quotes from Owais Shah himself such as "I always set out to play for my country" in the text side of the page.

The target audience that this magazine page aims to reach out to is people who like sports in general but it has an even bigger focus to people who like watching and playing cricket and people who look up to international cricket stars. The type of range for the ages that this magazine page looks out to is roughly 55 year olds and above who likes to watch cricket. I can tell this age of the target audience because I have done some secondary research on yougov which shows the expected age of target audience for cricket.

Ideas for an original print-based media

Example

This is a image I got of Google images. This is the type of layout I would make a double page spread design for a magazine but I would have to make changes. The changes that I would have to make is I would want to change the colour. I would want to make brighter colours to make the page stand out more. Another thing I would have to change is how big the writing is because in the picture it is hard to read the writing. I would keep the image of Adele in here as big as it is but when it comes to making the actual design I wouldn't use Adele I would use a picture that is related to the topic but I would keep the size the same.

This is one of the changes I would make to this page idea. I would want to make my final page idea a lot brighter and make it stand out more but I would keep the layout the same with the big image and bold writing but make the paragraphs or writing a lot bigger so its easier to read.

As an idea for the design, I would change the characters colour so it is not grey so it stands out more in the page of the magazine and so people would see the page better and pay more attention to the page in the magazine.

Subjects

The subjects for my plan for print and film would be heroes. The type of heroes I would choose is people like my mum, my dad and people who save lives such as firefighters or paramedics ect.

As part plan I would base the subjects as heroes. The subjects I would pick is my parents. My mum and dad would be heroes because they made me the  person who I am today and they took care of me so as the part of the print and film production I would use my mum and dad as the subject because they are my heroes. If I were to have a third subject it would be my grandparents because they have looked after me in the past swell so they would be my heroes to and therefor would be a subject in the film and print production.

kit/equipment

As we record and make print and film production we would need equipment such as lighting to get better camera shots/filming, cameras to record/take photos/videos with, tripods to keep the camera still when filming to get better videos and photos without anything being blurry and microphones to get better audio or just get audio in videos or it can be used in an interview just audio without any video if the guest doesn't want to be seen on camera.

The plan for the equipment is to use it for making the actual production so if we were going to make a film would need to use a camera for filming the production and to give to the crew such as the camera man. I would also need to give the microphone to the audio man and a tripod for the camera man if we need one.

One other thing In would have to think about is if I were to interview my subjects I would want the filming to have better audio so I would give them a clip on mic to make the audio sound better and clearer.

Print And Film Production Plan

Target Audience

Crew

We may need a crew because the tasks ahead may be difficult to do on your own. A reason why we may need a crew is to do the filming, so we would need camera men. We would also need sound men to get the audio in the filming ahead. We may also need actors so we would need an acting crew for the film to make the filming more professional and better and makes it look like an actual film.

When it comes to having a crew for the film and print production I would want to choose people for the right job. For example I would choose someone who would want to be the camera man and someone who would want to be the audio man. We would roughly need about 5 people roughly for the different roles to get a good production.

Timings

As we make the filming and printing production it will take time doing various parts. For example if it was going to work we should have to organise the amount of time to spend on something such as the filming and what time of day we film to get things like good sunsets and sunrises ect.

As the plan for the timings it would be based on the time of the day to get the best shots and it would also be based on the best time where all of the crew can come to help produce the film and print production.

Another thing I would have to think about the timings is that if I were to travel and see my grandparents I would have to think about what time is best for them to be interviewed and what time of day it would be best to film if we were going to film outside.

For the target audience it would have to be people who are interested in finding out and looking at peoples inspirations and heroes. Another thing that we would have to take in mind is that the target audience will have to be old enough and mature enough to read and understand the magazine page so the ages will roughly be based on 13 year olds and above.

The plan is to make a print and film production based for people who like finding out about peoples lives and who want to find out about other peoples heroes.

The story behind all of the planning is for people who want to find out about other peoples lives. For example when I interview my personal hero people would want to find out about their life in the interview so the target for the audience would be to people that want to find out about other peoples lives.

The design is also based for people who would want to find out about peoples lives. This can be based in a magazine in an interview that is written down with a certain type of design on the double page spread in a magazine. It would roughly be based on teenagers because I am a teenager explaining my heroes and why they are my heroes and it could to relate to other teenagers.

Transport

When we make the film and print production we would need to think about where we will film and how we will get there so we may need to use transport such as cars, trains or busses.

For the plan of transport it would depend on if we decide we wanted to go to another location to film. The plan would be based not just for me but the crew as well and how they would get to places that we would want to film. For example if I wanted to film in another location me and the crew would have to get transport such as busses or cars ect.

Another thing that I would have to think about to do with transport is how I would get to my grandparents if I were to film them. My grandparents do not live near to where I live so I would either have to use a train/coach/car to get to them.

P2 Examples Of Double Page Spread Ideas.

This is another idea for a double page spread idea to be put into a magazine but this time it is to do with my hero which is my dad. This is the first rough idea that I was thinking from my head to put into the magazine. On the right hand side I did a big picture of my dad himself and the Rasta colours for the background for two reasons. 1 because it is bright and 2 because he is Jamaican and in his previous backgrounds that people have made from him have had these colours. Also where the dots are thats where the writing will be about him and all the questions and answers in the interview will be written down as well as the big title of the page in the Rasta colours too.

This is where I would make the actual design is in photoshop where I add all my ideas into the drafts to get a better idea of what the final design will look like when it comes to making the final design. For example in this draft I wanted a big picture of my dad on the right and I wanted it colourful so I put my ideas into the draft on photoshop to make the design.

Magazine And Sketch Ideas For Heroes Summary Of 3 Ideas.

Hero-Dad Final 2 Ideas.

P3 In Design Magazine 2 Final Ideas

For the first idea of a draft for a double page magazine to do with my hero, I made a draft layout for one of my heroes which is my dad. The programme used to make it is called Adobe In Design. I used some of my ideas from other drafts I made in photoshop and used it to make an actual draft for a double page magazine in the In Design. For example with one of my photoshop drafts I made I used the colours Green, Yellow and Red with a picture of my dad to the right hand side of the double page spread but in this draft I used the same colours but with a different style across the double page and I also used the left hand side to put a title and text boxes for the interview to be written/typed down. Also on this draft it has the page numbers at the bottom and the name of the project along with my name as well. I also put in different font text layouts throughout the magazine.

For this second draft I wanted a nice background to go on both pages of the double page spread of the magazine as well as having the bright "rasta" colours on the other draft. For this draft I still wanted to add the pictures of my hero on the right side of the double page spread. I also wanted to put boxes were the text of the interview questions and answers would be both on the left and the right hand side of the page depending how many questions and answers there would be. Also at the bottom as well as the other draft I added the page numbers, the name of the project and my name. I also used a different font for the number of the page at the bottom of the magazine.

This is an idea for a double page magazine draft that I made in Photoshop. This will be based around my hero which is my mum. I wanted to put in bright colours to make the double page spread stand out and to give it more reason to look at it because it will be easy to read the writing of the interview etc.. I also wanted a big picture of my mum herself to the right hand side of the page but I couldn't get a picture for this draft so I used a cartoon mum instead.

Hero-Mum Final 2 Ideas.

This is my first in design idea double page spread draft for my mum which is another hero of mine. For this draft I wanted to keep the colours roughly the same as the photoshop draft I previously made. With this draft I put a big title that can be easily read on the left hand side of the double page spread and a subtitle showing that the box below is where the interview question and answers would be. On the right hand side of the page is a picture of a mum figure but when it comes to the actual magazine I will put an actual picture of my mum. Also on the right hand side of the page is a text area just above the cartoon mum to show what her background is like and who she is. Also there is different types of fonts that I put in throughout the magazine.

For this second draft I wanted to put in a nice and relaxing background picture that I could take. The picture I used was from google so when it comes to the final magazine if I wanted a nice background I would have to take a picture myself because of copyright issues. On the left hand side of this double page spread draft I put in a bold title so it stands out and is easy to read and put a sub title like the other draft to show where the interview text will go with the questions and answers and conversation. On the right hand side of the double page spread draft I put in a title saying "Character Background" to give some information out to the audience the background of the hero. I also added another cartoon"mum" character because at this stage I don't have an actual photo of my mum but when it comes to the final draft and magazine I will put a big picture of my hero which is my mum on the right hand side of the double page spread. Also there is different types of fonts for each text section of the magazine.

This is my re designed magazine layout for one of my heroes which is my dad. The reason why I redesigned it was because of the feedback that I got from my pitch that I needed to think about the types of backgrounds I need to use to make the text stand out and to make it easier to read. For example a black background with white text works well because it is clear, bright and easy to read.

This is also another re designed double page spread magazine design for my dad. The reason why I changed it because the text didn't fit well with the old background and it wasn't clear or easy to read so I put in a black background with white writing so it is easy to read and to make it a lot clearer.

P4 Pitching Ideas

For this unit I had to make a pit on what my ideas are for the print based products and then later get feedback on them.

This is the pitch I presented that is based on my magazine ideas click here to download my powerpoint pitch on my google drive on Unit 32 folder.

Feedback From Pitch P5

For the pitch that I presented for this unit I had been given some feedback both on things that were good and things I need to improve up on. One of the good things about the pitch was that I had a good introduction and that I described the project to let the audience know what it is about seeming as they knew nothing about it. One thing that I needed to watch out for is not to chew gum whilst presenting the presentation because it makes noise. Some other things that I needed to improve up on is to say what I learned from the analysis of the film and double page magazines and what ideas it then later on gave me to make my own rough print and film ideas. Some other things that went well was that I explained the reasons to why I need kit lists and a crew and what a crew and a kit list is. One other thing to improve up on that I had from the feedback was that I needed to put in placeholder texts to the rough magazine ideas in the programme In Design. Some other positive feedback that I got was that the target audience was well understood and that I had clearly thought about which target audience would be a target to each hero. Another thing that I need to improve on for the future pitch's I make is that I need to explain in more detail. For example with the treatments I didn't explain it in detail and thats one thing I need to improve up on.

Production Plan

Dates And Timescales

As part of the production plan there will be dates needed to do the recordings of my hero and taking photos of my hero and which dated will be best to do all of this. The best dates that would work for my hero would be on a weekend so Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There would also be times where i would have a date to borrow equipment to film and take photos etc. The launch date will be on Friday the 16th of December.

Resources/equipment

For the resources and equipment, this is what we would need to make a good production. The resources we would need is the stuff like Adobe Photoshop to edit any photos needed, In design to make the digital magazines to print off for the double page spread final idea, Premier pro to edit the film for the final film production and the wix website editor to put in any film/print production to my personal website. The types of equipment that we would need is a camera for recording/taking photos, a tripod to keep the camera still to get better shots, lighting to get more brightness, and a clip on mic for better audio.

Personnel And Activities

For the personnel and activities this is where I will use my crew to do the filming and taking photos and the activities that were would be doing is that we would be recording interviews, general views and just taking photos to be put into the magazine as well as using the different types of software to make the magazines.

Relavent legal/ethical issues

For the relevant legal and ethical issues one of the legal issues would be copyright issues because my hero which is my dad may have his own copyrighted music that I may not be able to show due to the copyright act but there shouldn't be any ethical issues because I'm not showing anything that will hurt/offend any race or any religion.

Budget

With the budget of this project we would have to think about what resources we use and how much they cost so for example we would need to print the double page spread magazines and use an iMac for editing and using the software from Adobe Creative Cloud to make the digital magazine. Here is an example of a budget table above relevant for this project.

Unit 16 And 17 P1

Purpose

The purpose of "The Runners" short film is to show people why the runners run every morning and to show their personal stories with personal questions and answers. For example one person shared a story about her sex life that is quite personal.

Content And Meaning

The content of this short film has different camera shots throughout the film. Another thing that the content of this short film brings is that there is season changes in the background and there is different runners as well as the start of the short film being all dark at grey to the end it gets sunny and bright. Also the camera shots zoom in on the runners face to show who they are clearer and to make it more interesting as well as getting a whole sense of the scenes with the long distance shots.

The meaning of the season changes shows that the runners are committed to running and that they run any time throughout the year.

The meaning behind close up shots is that it shows expression and emotion of the subject which is having the camera on them.

Form And Style

The form and style for this short film is that it is set up with a single camera interview that has some general view shots. The duration of the short film is 11 minutes. Within this short film it jumps in between the different runners with the shots to keep it interesting. This is called a non linear film because there is loads of different shot going on at different parts throughout the short film.

Genre

The type of genre of this short film is a social documentary. The reason for this is because the filming is based around the public with peoples views around the society. Another way we can tell it is a documentary is because throughout the short film there is interviews with the public meaning "The Runners".

Target Audience

The type of target audience that this short film is going for is people who like social documentaries and like finding out or have interests in other peoples lives. The age groups would be based around teens and adults roughly.

Frequency

The frequency of this short film would be that it would be on demand. The reason for this is because it would be put on websites such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and other websites so it can be viewed at any time that anyone wants to see the short film.

Production Process

The production process of this short film would be that there would be questions asked to the public meaning the runners, there would be footage of the runners recorded and there would be different camera shots recorded then later on once it is done there would be editing needed to be done such as switching between the different runners to keep the short film interesting then post the video to the different websites such as own created websites, YouTube, Facebook and twitter and more.

On Memory

Purpose

The purpose of this short film is to show the audience what life with Alzheimer's is like and what people with Alzheimers have to go through each and every day. With this short film there is also personal questions and answers and memories to show people the affect of Alzheimer's and to raise awareness of it. It also has a purpose to inspire people with Alzheimer's because they are not the only people in the world that have the disease.

Form And Style

The form and style of this short film is set up with a single camera. It also switches between each person with Alzheimer's to make it more interesting and to give off a better affect of what life is like with Alzheimer's. the duration of the film is 4 minutes as well. It is also non linear. There was no general view shots.

Content And Meaning

With the content of this short film it shows different camera angles of each person that has Alzheimer's throughout the short film and it starts to play music and changes to be louder throughout the film. The film didn't have any credits at the end. In the short film they also showed close up camera angles to show the expression and emotion of the people who have Alzheimer's in the film.

The meaning of the short film is to show the appreciation of people who have Alzheimer's because it is based around them. It also promotes to learn more about Alzheimer's because at the end it promotes a website known as alz.org which tells you information about Alzheimer's.

Genre

The type of genre that this short film is a social documentary. The reason for this is because its based on the public, with people who have Alzheimer's especially with questions asked and answers.

Target Audience

The type of target audience that this short film aims for is people who like social documentaries and for people who may be related to people who have Alzheimer's and want to find out more about Alzheimers. The target audience can also be for the younger generation because they may want to find out about the disease because their grandparents may have Alzheimer's and may want to find out about it.

Frequency

The frequency that this film would be that it would be on demand. The reason for this is because this can be viewed by anyone at anytime because it is uploaded to personal websites and websites such as Youtube Facebook Twitter etc so anyone can view it whenever.

The production process that this film would of had would be that there would be the different camera angles recorded as well as the shots between each person with Alzheimer's. They would also edit the film such as switching between each person with Alzheimer's to keep the film interesting then eventually publishing the short film to websites such as youtube and personalised websites.

Production Process

Ideas for original audio visual media products P2

With the editing of the film I used a programme that is called Adobe Premier Pro. Within this edit I imported about 16 clips and edited them with things such as clipping the video clip to make it shorter and to add in effects such as cross dissolve to make it look better. Another thing that I did within this edit is that I changed the audio gain to make the volume more quiet to make the film more professional. The task was to make an advert for Bristol Met to promote the school with questions asked and interview and general views etc. One thing that I would have to think about is that I will have to think about copyright if I were to publish this advert then I would have to think about the music used because the music may be already owned to someone and I wouldn't be able to release the advert.

P3&P4 Treatments And Proposals

This project is where I share the story of my hero which is my dad to people of the public and certain target audiences that will find it interesting. This case it will be my dad and how he has looked after me ever since I was little and going into detail about my dads music and how he produces his music. Also how he isn't my biological dad but he has been there ever since I was a year old.

Introduction

Why

The reason why we're doing this project is because people can relate to it so for example with my dads music in his lyrics some of the words can relate to everyday people and their lives. Also people who would want to produce music and get tips, can get some advice from this so they can make their own music.

The secondary purpose of this project is to get experience of film making and making double page spread ideas and to also develop my media skills so later on in life it can help me towards getting a job to do with media.

Purpose

Genre

For this project the type of genre is a social documentary where it is involved with people in public and the society in the film making and in the double page spread magazine.

Film Overview

Character Background

There will be many things to do with the film such as the set up with things like single and double camera set ups in the interview of the hero with general views as well. Also in the interview there would be different angles recorded to make the filming more interesting so the filming won't be dull and boring. Also there can be general views such as of me recording some stuff my dad does throughout the day of his life. For example I would record my dad making a song in his studio or him making food etc.

The medium of the project is a short film documentary and a double page spread in a magazine. The duration of the film would be no longer than 3 minutes and the double page spread sheet would have a Q+A text layout where questions will be asked and answers will be in the magazine both the questions and answers.

For this it will be a double page spread in a magazine with a question and answer text layout in the magazine with a big picture of the hero to the right hand side of the page in the double page spread. There would also be pictures taken to put into the double page spread in the magazine to make it look more interesting. The type of photos that I will be using is portrait photos of my subject.

Print Overview

The character is my dad who is called Zemroy Thomas. He was born in the country Jamaica and has been singing from a very young age which was about 10 since he started to sing. He always had a dream to be a reggae singer and now he goes to shows to sing, he is on the radio and even has his own recording studio to record his own written songs. He even has his own sound cloud and youtube with many music videos. The reason why he is my hero is because he stepped into a father figure for me ever since I was a year old. He isn't my biological dad but he has been there ever since I was 1 and I count him as my actual dad. He is also my hero because he tries his hardest to make money and achieve his dream to only make money off music which he does occasionally and that inspires me because he never gave up on his dream.

Frequency

For this project the frequency of the print could be that it is made weekly/monthly for the magazine but for the film it will be on demand because you can see it any time you like and it will be put on websites online such as YouTube and personalised sites.

Target Audience

The target audience would be mostly based around teenagers and young adults and above. It would be people who would want to produce music and likes listening to music and music producers because they can get some tips and advice from this film and double page magazine page so they can use the advice to make their own music or to know more about music, especially reggae music so it could relate to reggae artists too. A typical person of the target audience would be aged in their 30s-40s who is a male that have interests in reggae music and the type of name he would have would be a name like Ross.

Genre

For both treatments of this project the type of genre it will be is a social documentary, where the short film and the double page spread magazine page will be based around society and the public.

For this treatment of the project my hero for this treatment is called Sarah Thomas. She has been looking after me for 16 years now and she still does a great job. She was left on her own to look after me when I was just under a year old until my dad which isn't my biological dad but I count him as one, thats when she wasn't alone anymore. Not only she looked after me but she tries her best to keep the house clean and tidy too. She was born in England and she used to love playing hockey as a child, she was the captain of her team in secondary school and she loved it. She worked with a caring agency where elderly people who need help and caring would get the care and help they need and my mum helped and cared for many people at work. This is why she is my hero because pretty much all her life she has been looking after people and she is such an amazing person.

For this treatment of the project the type of target audience would be older teenagers/young adults to adults. The reason why this would be the target audience would be because my mums story is based on how she has looked after people almost all her life. So people who would want to learn into working to look after people and find looking after people interesting would be the suitable target audience because there can be tips learned from it. Also other mothers out there can be a target too because they can relate to it because they may have a similar story to my mum as well. The typical person of the target audience would be in their 40-50s and would be a female who is interested in caring or has had experience of caring before and has a interest in it and the type of name she would have is a name like Megan.

Target Audience

Character Background

For both treatments for this project the film overview there will be many things to set up. Some of the things that will be needed to set up will be single cameras and double cameras for the interview and for the magazine double page spread there will have to be some pictures taken and the questions and answers in the interview will have to be written down then later on put into the actual double page spread in the magazine. Also there would be some general views in the filming where I would record what my mum does on a day to day basis such as when she makes food for everyone or when she takes the dog for a walk etc.

For both treatments of this project the medium will be that there would be a short film on the hero that you want to interview and a double page spread in a magazine. The film will be no longer than 3 minutes and the double page spread will have the questions asked put into the page and the answers will also be put into the page as well as on the right side there will be a big picture of the hero its self covering most of the right side of the page.

Film And Print Overview

Frequency

For this project the frequency of the print could be that it is made weekly/monthly for the magazine but for the film it will be on demand because you can see it any time you like and it will be put on websites online such as YouTube and personalised sites.

Why

For this treatment the reasons why we are doing this is because other mothers out there or people may be able to relate to some of the things my hero does. For example my mum always looking after people and the house, other people may be able to relate to this because they do the same stuff or similar stuff that my hero does which is my mum.

For this treatment in the project the purpose is to make a short film documentary and a double page spread magazine but it is also to get some experience in film and print production and to develop the skills of making films and making print pages such as a double page spread magazine.

Purpose

Treatment 2

Feedback From Pitch P5

This pitch feedback both applies to units 13&14 also 16&17 because the pitch applies to all units.

Story Boards

Risk Assessment

On the 29th of November 2016 we presented the pitch which took all day so it was 6 hours and the resources we had was the projector, keynote, powerpoint and the printer.

Cast And Crew

When it came to any legal/ethical issues I resolved them by giving my subject a model release form. A model release form is an form that gives permission of the subject to be filmed so in this case my dad had to sign a model release form so that I could film him. This is what it looks like below...

Film And Edit

The editing programme I used to edit my production was Premier Pro CC by Adobe. in the whole process of film and print we use editing softwares by Adobe like Photoshop CC In Design CC etc.

This is my first clip I added into my production. This clip is a general view shot of my dad singing and is later on faded into another general view shot using the cross dissolve effect. This clip had full audio so you can actually hear that is going on in this clip. The reason why I added this at the start is so that the target audience and people who watch this get an idea on what my hero does in his life and what he is about.

These are the type of effects that you can add into a production. The effect that I used was in the Video Transitions, then Dissolve and then finally Cross Dissolve.

At this part of the production I added another clip. This clip was another general view shot but it was a shot of my living room and this was faded in with the clip before which was a general view of my hero singing at the start of the production. The reason as to why I added this in my production is so the target audience and the people who will watch this short documentary get an idea of what it looks like of where my hero lives and where he spends most of his time.

This is another general view clip at this part of my production. This clip was a general view shot of my dad singing in his own made studio again... The reason why I added this is to show the target audience and the people who would want to watch this giving an idea of what my heroes dreams are and what he enjoys doing. This clip was faded in with the clip before and after this clip. This clip has also got full audio so people who watch this get a better idea of what it is like in the life of my hero.

At this part of my production is where I added the main clip of the production. This clip is where I recorded and interviewed my hero. This clip has full audio. The reason for this is because you can hear my hero clearly and so people get an idea of what he sounds like clearly and loud. This clip was faded in-between the clip before using the cross dissolve effect. Also this clip was faded in-between the whole clip at different parts. The reason for this is because at some parts of this clip there was spaces where either I or the hero didn't say anything so it was split up to the parts where either I or the hero was talking using the Razor Tool.

At this part of my production I added a general view shot of my hero yet again singing which was faded into the interview using the Cross Dissolve effect. The reason why I added this is because it was relevant to the question and the interviewee's answer which was my hero and also because I wanted to keep the production interesting. The reason why it was relevant was because I asked what my hero's dream was and he answered about his singing and how he was singing since he was a kid. This clip didn't have any audio because the interview audio was in the background and at this point of the production you would still want to hear what is going on in the interview.

At this point of the production I added another general view shot of my hero singing in his own made studio. The reason why I added this is because I wanted to keep it interesting and it was relevant to the other general view clip I added before. The reason why it was relevant was because the other clip I added before was a general view shot of my hero singing in his own made studio like this clip. This clip had no audio. The reason for this is because the interview is going on in the background and people would still want to know what goes on in the interview.

At this point of my production I added another general view shot of my hero singing but the camera angle is at the side of my hero. This clip had no audio because people would want to know what is going on in the interview. This clip was faded in the main interview clip using the Cross Dissolve effect. The reason why I added this clip was because I wanted to keep it interesting for the audience. I also used this clip 3 times but all 3 parts of the clip was split at 3 different times of the clip and the audio was muted for all 3 clips because people still want to know what goes on in the interview.

This is a general view shot of my hero making some Jamaican food in the kitchen of the house he currently live in. The reason why I added this general view clip was because it was relevant to the question I asked which was what other goals did he have in life other than music and my hero responded with the answer which was being alive and living well and being active. This clip doesn't have any audio because yet again people would want to know what goes on in the interview. This clip was also faded into the main interview clip using the Cross Dissolve effect.

This is the final general view clip I added into my production. This general view clip was a close up shot of my hero making some Jamaican food but it can be known as fried dumplings. This clip didn't have any audio because it was faded over the main interview clip using the Cross Dissolve effect and because people still want to know what goes on in the interview.

At the end of my production I split the interview clip. The reason for this is because there was extra audio at the end that wasn't necessary because my hero was talking to me personally at the end so I split it when I said thank you for taking your time to be here today and he responded your most welcome. The part that I cut out was when he said "I'm very proud of you, you must know that" and he personally was speaking to me so I cut it out at the end. At this point there was audio because it was the main interview clip and it was faded out t the end using the Cross Dissolve effect to end the production off.

This is what the whole production looks like edited in Premier Pro CC.

Print And Edit

For the print side of the project we will be using the editing programme called In Design CC made by Adobe.

This is the start of what my first double page Magazine will look like. At this stage of the production I added a character background of my hero and started to add questions into the double page spread magazine and later on will add more questions into the double page spread magazine. There is also a photo of my hero I took covering the whole double page spread magazine.

Here is a better idea of the final 1st production of the double page spread magazine with questions and answers on it as well as a character background with photos both in and across the whole double page spread. This is how it will look like once it is printed. The reason for why there is different colour texts on the double page spread magazine is because it is legible and easy to read due to the background of the picture. The changes that I made since the draft is that I didn't go for a black background on half the page on the double page spread and instead I added a full photo of my hero. One thing that I did keep the same for both double page magazine spreads is that I added a page number to show what the name of the project is, what my name is and what page number it is. Another thing that changed since the draft is that I edited the title saying "FATHER FIGURE" in photoshop so that it was behind my hero and I added in a big quote from the interview that my hero said so that I could use up space of the double page spread space on the magazine.

This is the second final piece for the double page spread of this project. With this double page spread I added the same character background as before but added in different questions and answers from the interview. The reasons for the different colour writing on the double page spread on the magazine is because it is legible and easy to read for the purpose of people wanting to know about the interview and the character background. The thing that is different from my draft is that I didn't add a black background to half the page on the double page spread on the magazine like I did in the draft before and I added a full photo of my hero to both of the final pieces of the double page magazines for the project which is Everyday People. One thing that I did keep the same is the page numbers at the bottom of the double page spread magazine to show what page number it is and what my name is and the name of the project. Another thing that I did was that I went in photoshop and edited the photo of my  hero that I was using to put a title behind his head to go across the whole page to later on add into the double page spread magazine to make it stand out.
